I had a dandy tailwind today and covered about 60 miles. It's flat here with only the occasional overpass to climb so I really zipped along at speeds up to 20 KPH. It was hot again, but the temperature didn't seem to bother me as much. I stopped at a fruit stand and bought some bananas for about 2 cents each and some small satsumas for about the same, they were delicious.
There are monkeys that live in the jungle beside the road and motorists pull over and throw fruit to them. They peel it and scarf it down just like little people. They come right up to you and give you this look like they're saying, "So what do you have for me?"
Tonight, I'm in a town called Moradibad, about 170 kilometers from the border with Nepal. Another 2 or 3 days and I should be there. I will have to remember to stop at a bank soon and get all my 500 Rupee notes changed; it's against the law in Nepal to carry anything over a 100 Rupee note. Don't ask me why, it just is.
I had that cramp in my leg again today and it's pretty sore still. I sure hope it doesn't slow me down. Other than that, things are going well. Hotels are expensive in this part of India for some reason. I hope Nepal is cheaper.
I don't know my route after I get to Nepal. I might just ride east till I get to Katmandu, then, circle back to Dehli, or I might hang around Nepal for a while and fly to Turkey from there.
I am really looking forward to seeing the Himalaya. Never thought I would.
