My cycling pal, T-Bone, and I did a short tour of Lopez Island last weekend and we camped at one of our favorite spots, Odelin County Park. It’s only a mile or so from the ferry terminal and the prime campsites are right on the bay.
All night long, you can see the brightly lit interisland ferries chugging back and forth along with the occasional private craft.
It’s especially nice in the winter when there’s no one around. For $14.00 we chose a spot near the water, actually we spread out on two or three spots as we were the only campers, and on a weekend to boot.
After setting up camp, I rode back to the ranger’s station and picked up a couple of bundles of firewood. I sure was glad I had that Nitto Big Front Rack.
